Tsend Munkh-Orgil

Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mongolia

On 22 July 2016, The State Great Khural (Parliament) of Mongolia appointed Mr. Tsend MUNKH-ORGIL as the Foreign Minister of Mongolia.

 

Mr. Tsend MUNKH-ORGIL was born on 18 October 1964 in the town of Baruun-Urt, Sukhbaatar Province, in eastern Mongolia.

 

He graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (with distinctions) in 1988 (LL.B) and Harvard Law School in 1996 (LL.M.).

 

Mr. Tsend MUNKH-ORGIL joined Mongolian Foreign Service in 1988 and held various diplomatic positions, including at the Permanent Mission of Mongolia to the United Nations in New York.

 

In 1996-2000 he practiced law in the United States and Mongolia.

 

Mr. Tsend MUNKH-ORGIL served as Deputy Minister for Justice and Home Affairs of Mongolia (2000 – 2004), Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia (2004 – 2006) and Minister for Justice and Home Affairs (2007 – 2008).

 

He was elected to the State Great Khural (Parliament) of Mongolia in 2004, 2008 and 2016. He currently represents the Sukhbaatar (Central) District of Ulaanbaatar in the Mongolian Parliament.

 

Mr. Tsend Munkh-Orgil is married and has three children.
