Wang Yizhou is professor of China’s foreign policy and international relations, associate dean of the school of international studies, Peking University. He is the author of numerous books and papers on China’s new global role and its new foreign policy orientations such as, among others, Highland of China’s International relations (2008), Creative Involvement: New Direction for China’s Foreign Policies (2011), Creative Involvement: Evolution of China’s Global Role (2013). Dr.Wang Yizhou was a senior fellow of CASS from 1988 to 2009, respectively at positions like deputy director of World Economics and Politics, editor in chief of World Economics and Politics, director of department of world economics and politics of CASS Advanced School, and vice chairman of Chinese International Relations Association. Prof.Wang was visiting scholar of Harvard University in 1996-19967 and wrote a book, in that duration, introducing IR studies in US and the West cycles titled International Politics in the West: History and Theories (1998), which later became influential in Chinese IR education and research fields. Yizhou is now engaging some research programs focusing China’s global interests and roles, particularly on such issues as how to settle down wisely maritime disputes with neighbour countries, what to do for international public goods supply and why China’s internal institutions should be reshaped for its new global existing, and so on. All of these will be reviewed and elaborated in his new book (the third of trilogy), Creative Involvement: Domestic Context of New Foreign Policy (forthcoming).
