Dang Thanh Tam

Mr. Dang Thanh Tam is Chairman of Saigon Invest Group (SGI), one of the leading Groups in Viet Nam which has been receiving consecutively ten leading flags for best contribution from the Prime Minister since 2000. SGI is involved in: Real estate & Infrastructure, Telecom, IT & Television, Banking & Finance, Energy & Mining, Manufacturing & Construction and Tourism & Education. In 2009, SGI became a GGC member (Global Growth Company) and one year later, SGI grew to be the only GGC partner in the South East Asia of the World Economic Forum.
Members of Saigon Invest Group include two banks (Navibank and Westernbank with combined 150 branches), three listed companies (KBC, SQC and SGT with more than 10,000 shareholders and the total market cap of US$1.5 billion), and a university (Hung Vuong University with close to 15,000 students). SGI and its members have continuously carried out major projects in cooperation with its strategic partners, big and well-known corporations from Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and US. SGI partners include such names as: Canon, Foxconn, General Electric, International Power, Kumho, Marubeni, Starwood, etc.
In real estate, the listed KinhBac City Development Shareholding Corporation (KBC) is one of the sector leaders, and is developing 20 industrial parks, 5 immense urban areas in strategic locations of Vietnam. KBC also possesses a portfolio of five star hotels throughout the country. In mining sector, SaiGon Quy Nhon Minerals Corporation (SQC) operates the Vietnam most modern factory of titanium processing. The corporation also secures a titanium reserves of over 10,000 million tons.
Especially in energy, SGI has been appointed by the Prime Minister to develop a total capacity of 7,000 MW of electricity production. The list of appointed capacity includes 5,800MW of coal fire power plants, 1,000MW of hydro power, and 200 MW of wind farm. This makes SGI the biggest private engery producer of the country.
Mr. Dang Thanh Tam is a member of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC), a high ranking advisor of Vietnam Government on WTO Action Plans, and serves as member of HCMC People’s Council. He is an international visitor of US Government in 2006 and 2007, Co-Chairman of the Vietnam-Japan Business Forum, Chairman of the Vietnam Star Award Winners Club of 1,000 leading Vietnam corporations, member of Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO), Chairman of the HCMC’s Construction and Building Material Association and Chairman of Vietnam CEO Club. Recently, he was elected as a member of Vietnamese Parliament on the 13rd National Assembly on May 22nd, 2011.
Mr. Tam was awarded with First, Second and Third Class Labor Medals by the President of Vietnam. He is a three-time awardee of the Merit Certificate from the Prime Minister.
Mr. Tam holds a Maritime University degree, a Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Law from the Hanoi Law University, and a Diploma of Business Management from the Henley Management College in the United Kingdom.
