Nguyen Thi Doan
Born on 11 January, 1951 in Chan Ly commune, Ly Nhan district, Ha Nam province
She has made great contributions to the education sector (graduate and post-graduate), scientific research and party building. She wrote various books and articles in these areas. In addition, she actively contributed to social affairs and charity work. She is deeply interested in poverty reduction, orphans and children with disabilities, Agent Orange and HIV/AIDS. In particular, she is also interested in the issues of women and gender equality.

She was lecturer at the Vietnam University of Commerce and held positions of lecturer, Chief of Division, Vice Dean of Faculty, Member of the University Scientific Research Council; Member of the Party Executive Committee of the University; President of the Faculty’s Labour Union, Member of the Standing Committee and Vice President of the University’s Labour Union. In June 1993, she was elected Rector of the Vietnam University of Commerce, President of University Scientific Research Council and Member of the Standing Committee of the University Party Committee. In June 1996, she was elected Member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Communist Party at the 8th Party Congress. In July 1999, she was elected Member of the Inspection Commission of the Party Central Committee while holding the position of Rector of Vietnam University of Commerce. |

She worked for the Inspection Commission of the Party Central Committee. During this period, she kept various important positions such as Member of Inspection Commission of the Party Central Committee; Party Secretary of the Inspection Commission; Deputy Party Secretary of the Party Central Committee’s Agencies, Chairwoman of the Inspection Commission of the Party Central Committee’s Agencies. In April 2001, she was elected Member of the Party Central Committee at the 9th Party Congress, Vice-Chair and Standing Vice-Chair of the Inspection Commission of the Party Central Committee and Member of the Central Council of Political Theory. In April 2006, she was elected Member of the Party Central Committee at the 10th Party Congress and other positions of Standing Vice-Chair of the Inspection Commission of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Party Secretary of the Party Central Committee’s Agencies, Chairwoman of the Inspection Commission of the Party Central Committee’s Agencies and Member of the Central Council of Political Theory. In May 2007, she was elected Deputy of the 12th National Assembly and at the 1st Session of the National Assembly in July 2007, she was elected Vice President of Socialist Republic of Vietnam. |
